Lisa Gade reviews the Samsung Galaxy S7, Samsung’s smaller glass and metal flagship phone for 2016.

** Read our written review here: http://www.mobiletechreview.com/phones/Samsung-Galaxy-S7-S7-edge-review.htm

The Galaxy S7 brings back two important features missing from the S6: a microSD card slot and IP68 water resistance. At first glance it looks much like the Galaxy S6, but it has curved sides on the back for a surer and comfier grip. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow smartphone has Samsung’s TouchWiz UI, the top of the line Snapdragon 820 CPU (US model, other countries may get the Exynos CPU), 4 gigs of RAM and 32 gigs of storage plus a microSD card slot compatible with cards up to 200 gigs.

The phone has a lovely 5.1″ 2560 x 1440 Super AMOLED display, LTE 4G, WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth and a GPS. It has a front 5MP camera and a new 12MP rear camera with fast auto-focus, very good low light capabilities, 4K video recording and OIS. The Galaxy has a 3,000 mAh battery that’s sealed inside. In the US it sells for $700 full retail. For those who prefer a bigger screen phone and/or a display with curved sides, there’s the 5.5” Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge for $800 that we’ll review separately.

I've used both apple and samsung flagships for a while and what I can say is;
Apple is great when you don't want to mess around with and just want it to work right out of the box, and software upgrades/overall user experience is smoother and elegant>
Samsung is great when you want your own customization, and extra features (camera, water resistance etc), but overall user experience is lacking and especially software support SUCKS (but that's party due to android ecosystem at large; so can't blame it all on OEMs, unless its close to stock such as oneplus or HTC)
Choose whichever you want. I chose S7 bc although I knew it will stop upgrading after two years its 300 bucks cheaper and water resistance had me intrigued.
